Neues
Bergland - Germany
Gas Project
Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Pannonian
International, Galaxy has a 30% working interest in the 149,000-acre
Neues Bergland Exploration Permit near Kusel, Germany, approximately
75km east of Luxembourg and west/south west of Frankfurt.
The area is located within the Saar-Lorraine Basin, in the
state of Rheinland Pfalz, a coal rich region of Germany. The
Permit covers an area of 605 square kilometers and contains
a convex fold structure known as the Pfalzer Anticline that
is approximately 40km long and 18km wide, containing deep
coal beds.
Of particular relevance to the Pfalzer Anticline
is the contiguous, larger and geologically similar Saar Anticline.
The Saar Anticline is located south west of the Pfalzer Anticline.
Both structures were created by wrench faulting and contain
multiple thrust faults. The permit area sits between the coal
beds of the Saar Anticline and the major industrial corridor
running from Dusseldorf, through Frankfurt to Stuttgart and
Munich.
Galaxy is the operator of a four company joint
venture group for the first three wells drilled in Phase One
and Two. The first well (Glantal-1) was drilled on the property
in late January 2006 and based on the results of this well,
the group has commenced a detailed analysis to identify priority
zones for further development. Four initial zones have been
chosen as priorities for testing operations.
